ACRYLIC MOUNT
Acrylic mounting is a beautiful, modern way to display your portrait. We take a high quality print and adhere it to the back of a specially prepared piece of transparent acrylic, which is about 4.5 millimetres thick. It is attached to the wall by four smooth stainless steel removable mounts which can be screwed into the wall. These mounts lift the acrylic print off the wall by 20 millimetres. The final effect brings all the colours to life and is an impressive, modern addition to your home.
CANVAS MOUNT
Canvas mounted prints have a beautiful, art quality. After we create your portrait we print it onto high quality canvas, which is then carefully stretched over a wooden frame. Every frame has a metal catch at the back top centre, which fits neatly over a hook. All our canvas mounts are “gallery wrapped”. This means the image continues around the edges of the frame to create a seamless modern appearance.
FRAMED HIGH QUALITY PAPER PRINT
Our high quality paper prints are printed on 260GSM semi-gloss art paper. We only use white frames as they easily suit every house and colour scheme and really show up the colours of your Epic Portrait. All framed portraits have two inches of mounting board between the print and the frame that allows it to “pop” of your wall.
To help you choose the best image we have put together a list of tips and suggestions. Visit our “Photography Tips and Tricks” page to help you decide which photo to choose.
Our top tips:
1. Only upload high resolution photos.
2. Don’t choose an image which is too dark or too light (blown out).
3. Try to avoid using a camera phone unless it offers high quality resolution (minimum 7.2 megapixels). When shooting with a higher quality camera, such as an SLR camera, adjust the settings so you shoot the highest quality image possible.
4. If your image won’t work we will let you know and offer the opportunity to upload another. If you don’t have another photo available we will offer a full refund. Once your portrait has been created and sent to the printer you will receive email notification which includes a preview of it which is sharable via Facebook and other social networks.
Our team are very experienced portrait retouchers. We only retouch what is necessary to the figures in your photo. These include removing temporary blemishes such as pimples, scratches and bits of food from babies faces.
We don’t touch marks that are integral to the character of the person in the photo such as birth marks, freckles or moles.
Although we may gently smooth some areas of the skin we don’t believe in over-smoothing skin as we want the person to look natural.
We do subtly colour correct skin tones. For example, if someone’s legs are a different colour to the rest of their body we may adjust their colour to match.
We do adjust the overall tone of the figure to match the rest of the design. For example, if a person is too bright and their chosen design is dark or set at night, we will gently “cool” them so it looks like they belong to the rest of the design.
Ultimately, all we do is make it look like the person in the photo has had a nice holiday, a good night’s sleep and belongs in your chosen design.
To keep costs down for you and ensure you receive your portrait as quickly as possible, we don’t offer complicated retouching requests such as making someone look thinner or less bald!
To offer you the best end result, our experienced Photoshop artists will enhance your image in a few ways. All of our portraits have been designed so that the figure is placed, resized and cropped, if required, in the best location possible within it’s surroundings to create a great composition. Specific colour correction is applied, if required, to suit the design’s colour scheme and we may need to retouch certain elements to make it work. We may need to brighten or sharpen your image to help it blend with the rest of the design. Designs that require a figure to be facing a certain direction will be flipped if the supplied image is facing the wrong way. This is why clothing with writing or logos on them are not encouraged.
Yes! We email you a small soft copy so you can see what it looks like before we send it to our printer. If there are any issues with your design we ask to reply back to our email within 48 hours so we can make any adjustments. If we don’t hear back from you within 48 hours we assume your approval and your design is sent to our printer. We emphasise that customers take note of the design on the preview page before purchasing – we use the same colours and positions so you know exactly what you can expect of your own portrait. Once your portrait has been sent to our printer you will receive an email notification which includes a small preview image which you can share via Facebook or other social networks.
Your portrait will take approximately 5-10 working days from the time you have approved it to the time it arrives on your doorstep. Orders are delivered via UDL and you will receive a consignment number so you can track its progress from our printers to your door.
*Note: Delivery times can vary slightly from country to country depending how remote your location is.
Because all our portraits are customised artworks we do not offer refunds on purchases. We use only the best quality materials and printers and use sturdy packaging materials to protect your special portrait. However, if your design arrives damaged in any way, all you have to do is clearly photograph the damaged part of the print and email the photo to us through our “Help” page. We will reprint and send you a new one. The same delivery timeframe applies.
*Note: If you have ordered an acrylic mounted portrait and it arrives damaged, after sending us photos of the damage, retain the stainless steel mounting bolts from the original as we only reprint and deliver the new acrylic print.
We treat all photos sent you us as your personal property. They will remain secure and will not be used for any other purpose other than in the production of your design. We will keep a copy of your images for one year in case you would like to order another design using the same image but after that it will be deleted.
If you love your design and want to have it displayed on our website please let us know via info@epicportraits.com.au
And if we think your design is so outstanding and we would like to showcase it on our website we will ask for your permission to do so.
Depending on the size of your Epic Portrait we don’t recommend hanging it with 3M hooks or other adhesive based methods as we can’t guarantee they will be strong enough to support the weight. Drilling hooks or screws directly into the wall is the preferred method of hanging. Each print has either one or two catches that can be hooked onto a nail or screw or you can choose to thread wire between the two catches (on larger prints) and hang your Epic Portrait from that.
At Epic Portraits, we use only the highest quality canvas and paper in our prints. Follow these tips to keep your Epic Portrait in the best quality for many years to come!
LIGHT
Light that shines through the windows and also artificial ceiling lights or lamp light can damage canvas prints over time. Light breaks down the paper that the canvas print is printed on and also causes discolouration and an overall brittleness. For best results, it is best to avoid placing the canvas print in direct sunlight and keeping as much light away from the artwork as possible. Soft lighting is recommended.
HUMIDITY
Humidity can damage prints greatly. High humidity within an area can cause mould and mildew in places on the print. Mould and mildew can completely destroy good artwork so humidity needs to be kept low within the area where the prints are placed. Moisture in the air builds up when there’s not enough air circulating around so be sure to check room ventilation; open windows or doors regularly.
DUST
Removing dust is important in maintaining and caring for prints. Avoid a cloth which is rough and heavy to wipe away the dust and don’t use polish or chemicals to get rid of the dust. Cloths made of the softest material possible should only be used. We recommend you dust your portrait regularly to maintain the best quality.
